The ASTD Chapter theme this year is Competencies of Learning Leaders. Coaching - as a role, capability and area of expertise - can map to all levels of the ASTD Competency Model and is critical for learning leaders to
understand. On September 20, the Joint Chapter/Coaching SIG Meeting will focus specifically on coaching and showcase Avon North America's new coaching initiative. You will learn first-hand how one organization is building coaching capabilities among its managers and leaders and utilizing coaching practices throughout the organization to position individuals and the business for goal achievement.
For the past two years, Avon has navigated a corporate reorganization with a key focus on developing its leadership capabilities, using coaching to improve management and business performance. It adapted an interactive coaching program called Coaching Practices for Leaders to its organization, utilizing industry best practices and consistent messaging within the organization to help shape management behaviors for business results. Avon's Coaching Practices for Leaders incorporates e-learning, coach training, individual and group practice, as well as train-the-trainer programs to build coaching capabilities throughout the organization.
In this session, Avon North America's Program Manager,
Esther Margalit
, will walk us through how the program was designed and how it is delivered, sharing experiences from her role managing the process. Facilitator
Kathleen Donnatin
from Avon will share information about the program's content and target audience. We'll also hear from recent participants
Diane Abbriano
and
Gail Scripko
, who will discuss the value they are deriving from the program.
